Esta dissertação buscou compreender a constituição dos afetos e articulação dos significados decorrentes da relação exclusão/inclusão social, vivenciados pelos moradores do Conjunto Residencial Planalto Universo (CRPU) e aqueles do seu entorno, no bairro Vila União, Fortaleza. Inspirada no método de análise e sinopse das configurações, a pesquisa revelou, dentre outros afetos, que medo e rejeição predominam entre os moradores do entorno na relação com os vizinhos. Afetos provocados pela ?invasão de seu território? por sujeitos provenientes de áreas de risco e preservação ambiental que ?ameaçam? a imagem de ?boa sociedade?, levando-os a estigmatizá-los como ?Moradores Carandiru?. Por outro lado, vergonha e indignação predominam entre os moradores do CRPU por serem estigmatizados. Tais configurações se repetem na instalação da segunda etapa do CRPU, quando os novos moradores são discriminados, pelos da primeira etapa, como ?Morador Favelado?. Considera-se que a presença do ?outro?, do qual o sujeito se separa e se diferencia, caracteriza o jogo de ?um dentro? e ?um fora?, definindo o incluído e o excluído. Esses afetos habitam diferentes universos e conduzem a potência de padecimento. Eles podem ser superados por uma ética-afetiva, através da potência de ação. Potência que principiria pela compreensão de que inclusão e exclusão constituem um par indissociável, próprio a qualquer relação sujeito ? ambiente.

One of the big problems in Brazil is that disabled people are almost excluded from the labour
market. During my experience I worked in a place where there were much prejudice and once the
company had to contract disabled to fulfill the Brazilian law number 8213 which was passed 24
July 1991. That ignited my interest in the subject. This research was developed through a
qualitative approach using as an instrument to collect data a participative observation and half
structured interviews with open-ended questions aimed to the main points of the research, namely
to identify the significance of work for the physically disabled, but also the manifestation of
suffering in their working surroundings, their difficulties of entering the labour market and the
influence of the ruling working organisations. Ten physically disabled people were interviewed
and based on the analysis of the contents of their speeches, intertwined with theories, it was
possible to explain the categories. The results make it possible for us to grab the significance of
work for this individual coming to term with his deficiency, going through denial, acceptance and
overcoming the difficulties; a process where the importance of the family turns out to be crucial
as a support, the fight of the handicapped to prove his value and capacity, to learn how to live
with prejudice and finally the importance of work in his life, which brings joy and suffering at the
same time. The collected data of this research shows clearly the importance of work for the
physically handicapped because work influences the quality of his life a great deal..
Understanding the significance of work for the physically handicapped today is a great challenge
for managers and society.
