Esta pesquisa buscou analisar a inter-relação entre adultos autistas e os ambientes de
atendimento na cidade de Fortaleza. Como objetivos específicos, foram elencados: (1)
Investigar quais são as características físicas influentes para a concepção de ambientes
acessíveis às necessidades dos autistas a partir da literatura existente; (2) Mapear as instituições
de atendimento aos autistas na cidade de Fortaleza e identificar quais dessas são direcionadas
ao público adulto; (3) Identificar, a partir da perspectiva da equipe multiprofissional, quais são
as características físicas das instituições que favoreceram ou não o desenvolvimento das
atividades profissionais e como elas influenciaram no comportamento dos adultos autistas. (4)

elas influenciaram no seu comportamento. A partir disso, a pesquisa se dividiu em dois estudos.
O Estudo 1 se refere a uma Revisão Integrativa da Literatura que relaciona o ambiente
construído e o autismo a partir de 16 artigos selecionados no Portal de Periódicos CAPES, em
inglês e publicados nos anos de 2016 a 2021. São apresentadas nove categorias temáticas:
estímulos auditivos, estímulos visuais, estímulos táteis, propriocepção e vestibular, segurança,
zoneamento sensorial, legibilidade espacial, compartimentalização dos espaços, espaço de
fuga. A partir dos resultados no Estudo 1 foi possível direcionar as entrevistas no Estudo 2. De
abordagem empírica e por meio de entrevistas semiestruturadas, o estudo 2 contou com a
participação de 19 profissionais multidisciplinares e 18 adultos autistas de duas instituições de
atendimento especializado localizadas na cidade de Fortaleza/CE, durante os meses de maio e
junho de 2022. As entrevistas transcritas foram subdivididas em dois corpus textuais relativos
a cada grupo de participantes. Os dados foram submetidos à Análise de Conteúdo e os
resultados indicam, entre outros, possíveis melhorias nos ambientes das instituições visitadas
para que os adultos autistas tenham um acompanhamento mais eficiente e que a equipe
multiprofissional necessita de ambientes e materiais condizentes para um atendimento
adequado.

This research sought to analyze the interrelationship between autistic adults and the care
environments in the city of Fortaleza. As specific objectives, the following were listed: (1)
Investigate which are the influential physical characteristics for the design of environments
accessible to the needs of autistics based on the existing literature; (2) Map autistic care
institutions in the city of Fortaleza and identify which of these are aimed at adults; (3) Identify,
from the perspective of the multidisciplinary team, which are the physical characteristics of the
institutions that favored or not the development of professional activities and how they
influenced the behavior of autistic adults. (4) Identify, from the perspective of autistic adults,
which are the physical characteristics of the institutions that favored or not the development of
professional activities and how they influenced their behavior. From this, the research was
divided into two studies. Study 1 refers to an Integrative Literature Review that relates the built
environment and autism from 16 articles selected from the CAPES Periodicals Portal, in
English and published from 2016 to 2021. Nine thematic categories are presented: auditory
stimuli, visual stimuli, tactile stimuli, proprioception and vestibular, security, sensory zoning,
spatial readability, compartmentalization of spaces, space of escape. From the results in Study
1, it was possible to direct the interviews in Study 2. From an empirical approach and through
semi-structured interviews, study 2 had the participation of 19 multidisciplinary professionals
and 18 autistic adults from two specialized care institutions located in the city from
Fortaleza/CE, during the months of May and June 2022. The transcribed interviews were
subdivided into two textual corpus related to each group of participants. The data were
submitted to Content Analysis and the results indicate, among others, possible improvements
in the environments of the institutions visited so that autistic adults have a more efficient
follow-up and that the multiprofessional team needs suitable environments and materials for
adequate care.
