Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender a experiência vivida em pessoas que se
consideram dependentes de smartphone, investigando o fenômeno sob a lente da
fenomenologia de Merleau-Ponty. A relevância desse tema consiste em, por um lado, a
amplitude de utilização do smartphone, sendo atualmente cinco bilhões de aparelhos
conectados no mundo, e por outro o aumento de queixas relativas ao seu uso
exacerbado. Ao compreender a dependência do ponto de vista fenomenológico, a
dissertação aponta a necessidade de partir do contato com a experiência vivida das
pessoas que se consideram dependentes de smartphone, olhar que prioriza o contexto
não apenas biológico do ser humano, mas também o mundano, imbricado em sua
história e sua cultura. Para atingir o objetivo proposto, realizamos uma pesquisa
qualitativa, utilizando o método fenomenológico mundano, sendo realizadas dez
entrevistas com pessoas que se consideram dependentes de smartphone. A análise
resultou em cinco temas emergentes: Ser Dependente de smartphone; Experiência do
Tempo por meio do smartphone: Distorção Temporal e Velocidade; Experiência do
Espaço por meio do smartphone: Perto do longe e longe do perto; Dificuldade de Sentir
e Mediação da Cultura na Influência Digital. A experiência vivida é descrita pelos
participantes com distorções em suas percepções de tempo, de espaço e em suas
relações interpessoais com os outros e com o contexto em que vivem. As falas
revelaram ainda que a dependência de smartphone é considerada um fenômeno
ambíguo, no qual o aparelho potencializa e escraviza, carregando um sentimento de
falta de autonomia. Concluímos que o olhar para a experiência vivida sob a lente da
Fenomenologia de Merleau-Ponty pode contribuir para uma compreensão da
dependência de smartphone como uma forma de expressão, de existência, dos
indivíduos no contexto amplo e atual em que vivem.

This research aims to comprehend the lived experience of people that consider
themselves as smartphone dependent, investigating the phenomenon under the lens of
Merleau-Ponty's phenomenology. The theme's relevance consists in, on the one hand,
the amplitude of smartphone use, nowadays being of five billion devices connected in
the world and, on the other hand, the increase of complaints in relation to the
exacerbated use. By understanding the dependence in the phenomenological point of
view, the dissertation points to the necessity of coming from the contact with the lived
experience of people that considered themselves as smartphone dependents, a
perspective that prioritizes the context, not only biological of the human being, but
mundaine, interwoven in their history and culture. In order to achieve the proposed
objective, we carried out a qualitative research, using the mundaine phenomenological
method, ten interviews with people that considered themselves smartphone dependents
have taken place. The analysis resulted in five emergent themes: Being smartphone
dependent; Experience of time through the smartphone: Temporal and velocity
distortion; Space experience through the smartphone: Close to the far and far to the
close; Difficulty to Feel and Culture Mediation in Digital Influence. The lived
experience is described by the participants with distortions in its perceptions of time,
space and in its interpersonal relations with others and with the context in which they
live. In addition, the statements revealed that the smartphone dependence is considered
an ambiguous phenomenon in which the device enhances and enslaves, bearing a lack
of autonomy feeling. We conclude that the perspective to the lived experience under the
lens of Merleau-Ponty's Phenomenology's can contribute to a comphension of the
smartphone dependence as a form of expression, of existence, of individuals in the
broad and current context in which they live.
