A presente dissertação teve como objetivo principal analisar a relação entre o preconceito contra adolescentes gordos e o bullying. Deste modo, pretendeu-se analisar o preconceito que adolescentes têm contra o indivíduo considerado gordo e sua influência no comportamento dos jovens que praticam bullying. Assim, para alcançar este objetivo, realizou-se uma pesquisa em uma escola pública da cidade de Fortaleza. Participaram 219 adolescentes com idades entre 11 e 19 anos (M = 13,37; DP = 1,55), cursando entre o 6º e o 9º ano do Ensino Fundamental. Estes responderam um questionário contendo uma medida de preconceito contra gordos e uma medida de bullying, além de perguntas de caráter sociodemográfico. Os resultados mostraram que a prevalência de bullying identificada no estudo foi de 51,1% (se somado as categorias: às vezes, grande parte do tempo e sempre), sendo mais frequente no sexo feminino. Dentre as causas/motivos do bullying, a maior frequência de vitimização foi relacionada à aparência do corpo (29,6%), seguida da aparência do rosto (23,1%), raça/cor (11,3%), a alternativa ¿outras opções¿ apareceu com 54,6%. Em seguida, realizou-se quatro análises de regressão para verificarmos se as dimensões de preconceito (antipatia, medo de engordar e força de vontade) se relacionavam com as dimensões de bullying (relacional, verbal, cyberbullying e físico), onde as dimensões de preconceito são as variáveis independentes e as dimensões de bullying são as variáveis dependentes. A dimensão antipatia influenciou todas as dimensões de bullying: verbal (ß = 0,22), cyberbullying (ß = 0,21), físico (ß = 0,25) e relacional (ß = 0,34); a dimensão medo de engordar influenciou o bullying relacional (ß = 0,15) e o cyberbullying (ß = 0,14); e a dimensão força de vontade não teve influência sobre os tipos de bullying. Deste modo, esses resultados mostram que uma das possíveis características para a explicação do bullying pode ser a existência de preconceitos, isto é, a não aceitação das diferenças entre os indivíduos. Os resultados obtidos são semelhantes aos encontrados em outros contextos socioculturais. Espera-se com a presente dissertação poder contribuir para o entendimento da violência escolar e da exclusão social dos adolescentes gordos, de modo a pensar em estratégias de intervenção ou políticas educacionais que enfrentem esse fenômeno. The current thesis aimed to analyze the relationship between the prejudice against fat adolescents and bullying. In this way, we intend to analyze the prejudice that adolescents have against the individual considered fat and their influence in the behavior of young people who practice bullying. Thus, to achieve this goal, it was conducted a survey at a public school in the city of Fortaleza. A total of 219 adolescents with ages ranging from 11 to 19 years (M = 13.37; SD = 1.55) participated in the study, from the 6th to the 9th grade. These adolescents answered a questionnaire containing a measure of prejudice against fat people and a measure of bullying, as well as sociodemographic questions. The results show that the prevalence of bullying identified in this study was 51.1% (if added as categories: sometimes, most of the time and always), being more frequent in the female sex. Among the causes/reasons of bullying, a higher frequency of victimization related to body appearance (29.6%), face appearance (23.1%), race/color (11.3%), the alternative ¿other options¿ appeared with 54.6%. Then, four regression analyzes were performed to verify if the dimensions of prejudice (antipathy, fear of gaining, willpower) are related with the dimensions of bullying (relational, verbal, cyberbullying and physical, where the dimensions of prejudice are the independent variables and the dimensions of bullying are the dependent variables. The antipathy dimension influenced all dimensions of bullying: verbal (ß = 0.22), cyberbullying (ß = 0.21), physical (ß = 0.25) and relational (ß = 0.34); the dimension of fear of fattening related to relational bullying (ß = 0.15) and cyberbullying (ß = 0.14); and the willpower dimension had no influence on any of the types of bullying. Thus, these results show that one of the options for an explanation of bullying can be an existence of prejudices, that is, not acceptance of differences between individuals. Thus, these results show that one of the possible characteristics for the explanation of the bullying can be the existence of prejudices, that is, the non acceptance of the differences between the individuals. The results obtained are similar to those found in other sociocultural contexts. It is hoped that this thesis can contribute to the understanding of school violence and social exclusion of fat adolescents, so as to think of intervention strategies or educational policies that combat this phenomenon.
