A pesquisa teve como objetivo compreender as relações entre a adição ao trabalho (AT), nível de satisfação com a vida (SV) e características pessoais e laborais de docentes de nível superior. A investigação tem como foco as consequências das transformações ocorridas no mundo do trabalho, por influência da lógica capitalista, no âmbito da educação. Essas transformações desenham um contexto sócio histórico de precarização e flexibilização da docência, que tem legitimado e naturalizado padrões de trabalho excessivo do professor, tanto para o atendimento das demandas organizacionais quanto para o financiamento de suas necessidades pessoais. Esse quadro pode desencadear a AT nos docentes, mais especificamente nos que atuam no ensino superior. O percurso metodológico contemplou dois estudos, um de abordagem quantitativa onde foi realizada a aplicação das escalas Dutch Work Addiction Scale (DUWAS) e Escala de Satisfação com a Vida (ESV) e, outro, de abordagem qualitativa, onde foram realizadas entrevistas com docentes que apresentaram alta ou baixa adição ao trabalho na investigação quantitativa. Os resultados da aplicação das escalas apontaram para um perfil de risco de AT composto por características pessoais (sexo e número de filhos) e laborais (mais de um vínculo de trabalho) e a associação negativa com SV. Os resultados qualitativos apontaram percepções diferenciadas sobre o trabalho e seu contexto entre grupos de docentes que apresentam AT alta ou baixa e entre os que atuam no ensino público e privado. O fenômeno precisa ser tratado com atenção no campo da saúde do trabalho a fim de propiciar capacitação, ações de prevenção e intervenção tanto dos profissionais, quanto das organizações e áreas de gestão de pessoas, gerando novas perspectivas para a sua resolução e consequente bem-estar dos docentes.

This research aim is to understand the relationships between work addition (WA), life satisfaction levels (LS) and personal and labour characteristics of teachers. The investigation focuses on the consequences of the changes in the world of work, by influence of capitalist logic, in the education area. These changes draw a socio historic context of precariousness and flexibility in the educational field, which has legitimized excessive work patterns in teachers, both to meet organizational demands as well as to face their financial needs. This culture may trigger WA in teachers, more specifically in those working in higher education. The methodological approach contemplated two studies, a quantitative one with the application of the Dutch Work Addiction Scale (DUWAS) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SL) and other, qualitative, where interviews with teachers who showed high or low addition to work on the quantitative research were held. The results related to the scales application pointed to profile at risk of AT consisting of personal characteristics (sex and number of children) and labour (more than one employment contract) and a negative association with SV. The qualitative results showed differentiated perceptions about work and work context between groups of teachers who presenting WA high or low and between those working in public and private institutions. The phenomenon needs to be treated with attention in the field of occupational health in order to provide prevention training for professionals, as well as organizations and people management interventions, generating new perspectives for the resolution of the problem and welfare for the teachers.
