Este estudo tem como objetivo identificar a influência da cultura organizacional e respectivo contexto de trabalho de diferentes tipos de Instituições de Ensino Superior -IES (públicas; privadas com fins lucrativos e privadas sem fins lucrativos) nas vivências de prazer e sofrimento e os danos resultantes do trabalho nos seus respectivos docentes. Assim, a tese proposta é que a cultura organizacional influencia o contexto de trabalho e que essas dimensões têm um impacto sobre as vivências de prazer e sofrimento no trabalho dos profissionais de nível superior, bem como sobre o processo saúde-adoecimento. Trata-se de uma pesquisa quali-quantativa com o uso de multimétodos. A pesquisa foi realizada em duas fases distintas. A primeira identificou e descreveu os elementos da cultura organizacional dos três diferentes tipos de IES, bem como aspectos dos elementos que caracterizam o trabalho e os riscos de adoecimento dos docentes de cada uma delas de forma qualitativa. A segunda identificou os elementos da cultura nos três diferentes tipos de IES e investigou as vivências de prazer e sofrimento dos docentes, de acordo com a sua percepção de forma quantitativa. Destaca-se que as instituições privadas com e sem fins lucrativos e a instituição pública apresentam diferenças significativas tanto na cultura clã-inovadora, quanto na cultura de mercado. No decorrer do trabalho, também, ficaram bastantes evidentes os diferentes tipos de contextos de trabalho apresentados por cada uma das IES. Este resultado demonstra que as diferentes culturas organizacionais e os tipos de contextos de trabalho que delas resultam influenciam as vivências dos docentes. Constatou-se, em especial, que na realização profissional há diferenças entre a instituição privada com fins lucrativos e a instituição pública.

The goal of this work is to identify the influence of the organizational culture and the working environment of three diverse types of universities and technical institutions: one public and two private (one profit and other non-profit) on the experiences of pleasure and suffering, as well as professionals¿ health problems, as a result of their work. Thus, the thesis asserts that organizational culture can influence work context and that both dimensions have an impact on the experiences of pleasure and suffering of graduation lectures and on their health-illness process. A qualitative-quantitative research was conducted with the use of multi-methods. The research was done in two steps. In the first, a qualitative research, the elements of the organizational culture of each institution along with various aspects that characterize the work and the risk of illness of the professionals were tidentified and described. In the second, a quantitative research, elements of the culture of the three institutions were identified and the experiences of pleasure and suffering, as perceived by the professionals, were verified. The results showed that the three institutions present remarkable differences in both the clan-innovative and the market culture. Differences in the work environment of each institution were very evident. The results also show that the differences in the organizational cultural, as well as in the resulting work environment, influence the professionals¿ experiences. In special, in terms of professional realization, it was found that there is a difference between the private profit and the public institution.
